786. . . the sufi and the swami – Om Allah !
sufi: namaste oh great Swami Shivananda Giri
oh great being of sanatana dharma
please tell me the way to realization
In the forgetting of your true and original nature in order to incarnate as an apparently separate entity, the “illusion” of maya arose
once the illusion is seen for what it is and you remember and recognize the natural condition, the hardest part is done
what is the way to remember this original nature
there are many, any of the “mystical” paths all reveal the same thing through varying means
just depends which way is more appropriate for you
what is the shortest most effective means oh great Guru remover of darkness
doesn’ work that way
the only variable important for you is does it touch you deeply
find that feeling at the feet of a Freed One who has perceivd Truth through that path and then follow what they say
what is the most important aspect of the path
your dedication to it
your single pointed focus on the goal
all the means and methods reveal the same stuff
they just speak of it in different ways
the Sufi Master, the Yoga Master, the Taoist Master all know the same thing to be True
may the light om om sat chi ananda shine in you as you eternaly oh great being of Light
11:40am
they just took differing trails up the same mountain and reached the only peak there is to be reached
all of them inwardly witnessed the same sorts of phenomenon
whatever necessary for their varying karma and dharma
its really not a gain of anything at all but direct and conscious Knowledge
of what is eternally and infinitely the case
The goal is the falling away of the concepts and limitations
this is accomplished best, in my view, by meditation and japa
Guided by One who has already done it
swami : is this making sense?
sufi: yes it is as clear as the blue sky
like the sky, any conditions can appear within it when the circumstnces are correct
yet the sky is never affected by any of the appearances of change within it
“GOD” exists within you as YOU
you have spent lifetime after lifetime seeking only That
all the while thinking you are other than That and separate
this is the way suffering arises

786. . . See Only God !
OM Sri Sat Guru Amma Namaha 108x …Mother of the Uni-verse!!!
U must C God
Before creation there was only God
it is now as it was then….sufi proverb
Eye am developing what eye call “the view of perfection.” with this view of perfection, eye strive to see only God. to experience only God. to not view anything in my life, experience, as other than God!!! the view of perfection is based on the understanding that “la ee la ha ill Allah” means God is the ONLY reality. with this inner gnosis, all is becoming Bliss. eye talk to God. eye walk with God. eye even ride the subway with GOD. God is becoming the reality of my experience. eye often say to people eye meet, ” have a God day.” sometimes they look at me and smile. sometimes they even ask, did you mean to say “good day?” when this happens my reply is, ” now how can a day be good without God?”
God is the All in All. the only 1 that has real Being. God is the substratum of ALL forms. nothing can exist without Him. She is the formless ONE that gives form to all forms. the Buddhist have a saying that eye love “emptiness if form, and form is emptiness.” to me this means that what we see is all empty, and it is that which we do not see that has true form. there are 4 names of Allah/God that some sufis meditate on for Realization. these four names are: the First(al awal), the Last(al akir), the Hidden(al batin) and the manifest (az zahir). it is said in the sufi way that “God is known through Her opposites.” if God is the first, the last, the hidden, and the manifest, what else is there other than God? my beloved sufi master, Cheikh Betcio once said to me ” if you see something and do not see the Oneness of Allah manifest through that thing, know that your understanding of the Oneness of Allah is limited.“ on this day, and from this day forward, eye will strive to see , know, and experience ONLY GOD, with the view of perfection…. live in the light of love…sufi ananda.

786. . . Drinking from the Source- 2
“He who is supremely devoted to the Lord and has the same devotion to his guru, to him alone will the truths explained herein clearly reveal themselves.” Guru Gita vs 19
The Guru Gita infaticly states that the Guru and God are One ! In this verse the Gita is asking the devotee to have the same devotion for his Guru as he does for God. Man is the microcosm of God. All that is manifest in God is manifest in/as man. Cheikh Bawa Muhayadeen has said “man is God in the forgetting of himself.
In the absence of the ego or the concept of a false ‘i” MAN exists in a state of Oneness with God. the very idea “i exist” is a falsehood. the Only I that exist and has true BEing is the all inclusive infinite state of the I AM GOD consciousness. the very fact that this I AM is the Only consciousness shows its relationship to man because man shares in the possibility of the awareness of the true I AM GOD state. When man comes to know with certainty his oneness with the I AM state, Man is a Guru/God.
In sandskrit the word Gu means darkness. the word Ru means remover. thus the word Guru means remover of darkness. Light is the only remover of darkness. Light is God. the Guru, having the power to remove darkness is the manifestation of the Light of God made flesh. “and the word dwelt amougst men and became flesh.” – Holy Bible
In the Bagavad Gita Lord Krishna proclaims there is no difference between Him and the non-manifest Brahman. Lord Krishna emaplains to Arjuna that the way to merge with Him is through Bhakti(love-devotion). the disciple HU has the same devoation to his Guru as he does with God will ultimately destroy his ego and merg/melt in/with God-Allah-Brahman!

786. . . Drinking from the Source 1
Om Allah Hu ! here we begin the illustrious journey of DRINKING FROM THE SOURCE ! in this most important series of weekly blogs we will drink directly from the Guru Gita. the Guru Gita is a non-dual advaita text from the hindu/vendanta tradition. its main theme is the explanation of the Oneness of Self, Braman(God), the universe and the Guru.
Prostrations to Brahman, the Unthinkable, the Unmanifest, beyond the 3 Gunas(modes of existence), yet the very Self of existence, the supporting Substace/Substratum behind the manifested universe.- Guru Gita verse 1
the Self, the universe, and the Guru/Cheikh are manifestations of one BEing that we call Brahman-Allah-God. the 1st verse of the Guru Gita makes this fact clear. God is unthinkable, beyond the mind. unmanifest, not found in existence, yet immanent in existence and the substance beyond the outward form of existence, the universe. the Guru Gita starts from the lofty view point that all of existence is the direct manifestation of Brahman-Allah-God.
the sufis have a saying “Allah veils/hides Himself with Himself.” there is no other thing to veil/hide Allah because Allah is All. the same Allah is the essence of ALL forms and the Self. the Guru Gita starts with the concept of transcendence and imminence, first saying that Brahman(God) is beyond the 3 gunas(modes of existence) ie transcendent and then affirming that Brahman IS the substance of the manifested universe. in the sufi way we have the exact same concept. La ee la ha ill Allah on an inner esoteric level means Allah is the only reality !
from beyond the veil of the mind, Brahman-Allah-God manifest as the Self of all beings in existence. it is the goal of the seeker to know and BE/manifest this true Self, that is beyond the mind and all false concepts of self. in this series of blogs we will DRINK FROM THE SOURCE to obtain a level of clarity and certainty of the Oneness of the Self and God. it is the Guru/Cheikh who is ultimately the key of awakening for the jiva/soul to awaken to its true identity/nature. please feel free to ask any questions as we Drink from the Source. . . . om shanti- as salam wa laikum

786. . . Vajrayana – guru yoga
Thus, Vajrasattva, on the crown of one’s head, dissolves into one. Imagine that one also
becomes Vajrasattva; regarding appearances, sounds, and thoughts (three) as the play of the deity
mantra, and dharmata, while reciting the quintessential (mantra) which is the inner manner of
purification of obscurations. Finally, even the conceptualization of deity and mantra is dissolved
into luminous clarity being pure from the beginning awareness/voidness is the real meaning of
seeing the self-face of Vajrasattva. This is the secret, unsurpassable manner of the purification of
obscurations. . .
Thus, having recited the dedication, aspiration, and auspicious (prayers), at this point, one enters
into everyday conduct. Also, in the between all sessions, think that the “freshness” of drink and
food’s nature is amrita and (all) clothes are divine garments offered to the lama on one’s crown.
Whatever arises as the phenomena of the six senses, do not follow with ordinary thoughts but
preserve radiant, natural, awareness of the deity, mantra, and primordial wisdom. In the evening
when going to sleep, pray to be able to hold the luminous clarity. Afterward, the teacher on the
crown of one’s head passes down through the aperture of Brahma to one’s heart which is in the
form of a four-petaled lotus. The mind, focusing on the light that fills the whole body, is
absorbed in the naked, luminous clarity of void/awareness. In this state, without dullness,
without being disturbed by other thoughts, one falls into sleep. If one should awaken, then cut off
all the erratic, wild, scattered, wandering, and various kinds of thinking and by preserving the
radiant state of luminous clarity, one will be able to hold the luminous clarity of sleep and
dreams. Again, at dawn, when rising, think that the teacher ascends through the central channel
and is joyfully seated in the sky in front above one’s head, etc., and resume former practice.
Also, at the time of death, by the mingling of luminous clarity, awareness and space, one remains
in meditation which is the supreme transference (phowa) practice. However, if one cannot arrive
at this, then in the Bardo, by recalling the three yogic procedures, one will be come liberated.
Therefore, through keeping at all times very pure faith, devotion, and samaya vows, diligently
develop and increase the practice of the union of the two accumulations.
In the manner as shown above, (practice) the four ways of turning the mind, the stages of
accumulation and purification, striving until one experience the results of each and especially the
Guru Yoga because it alone actually is the profound, essential extraordinary path of the
Vajrayana. So, by holding to this vital practice of the main practice and practicing this with
extreme diligence, there is no need to care about the other practices of the arising and perfecting
yogas, and one will draw breath in the pure land of Nga Yab Pema Od. Like magic, one will
traverse (the stages) of the four vidyadharas and will certainly reach the level of the wholly
perfect primordial wisdom teacer. . .

786…what is the Self?
what is the Self? who am “i” ? from beyond duality the Self shines pure Light, truth, bliss, and consciousness.
in all of the uni-verse the greatest thing one can know is the Self. in knowing the true Self one will know God !!!
dreaming the illusion of a separation between Self and God, man/woman exist in a state of pure ignorance. removing the
“idea” of a separate existence of the Self from God, is to awaken to the true nature of BLISS.

786… 7 principles of Self Realization
“Herein is expounded the means of attaining
APAROKSHANUBHUTI-SELF REALIZATION
for the acquisition of final liberation. Only the pure in heart should constantly and with all effort meditate upon the truth herein taught.” – Sri Sankara
From this day forward know that the true Self(atman) is God(Brahman)! The worst slavery in the world is the false teaching that God is outside of Self. May this wisdom of Self Knowledge rid us all of this poison, and be an aid to Self-God Realization. Non Dual Advaita is the science of God based on ONEness. Advaita does not see duality between man and God. One of the founders of this school of philosophy was Sri Sankara. A Hindu proverb says that “knowledge is a benefit to people, and Sri Sankara was a benefit to knowledge.” Sri Sankara’s thought was revolutionary in the time period that he came. Hinduism has 108 deities. Sri Sankara clarified the understanding that all of the Deities that the Hindus worship are manifestations of the ONE Supreme Brahman. Just as in Islam we worship Allah who has 99 attributes. In Hinduism Brahman has 108 attributes, that are worshiped as individual Deities. The 7 principles for Self realization are explained in Sri Sankaras short text “Aparokshanubhuti-Self Realization.” This text serves as a summary, and introduction to my favorite philosophy, Non Dual Advaita. In reality, the 7 principles are qualities that a seeker must have to take the journey to Self Realization.
The first principle is indifference. Indifference means that the seeker should have no attraction to the material things of this world. The example in the text given is that the things of this world should be viewed on the same level as cow dung. Pure indifference means that the seeker is not even interested in the rewards and blessing one may receive from the Creator in another life time or heaven. Ckeikh Abdul Qadir Jilani alluded to this level of pure indifference when he said “sufism is two steps, a step out of this world into heaven, and a step out of heaven into the Divine Presence.
The second principle is discrimination. Discrimination is having the knowledge to know the difference between what is Real, and what is illusion. In Budist dharma, this is almost the same as the concept of impermanence, which says that all things in the universe are impermanent, and therefor have no real existence. Discrimination is the ability to know/see God as the only reality, and untimely to see and know that the Self is God. One of Sri Sankara’s famous teachings is that “a rope may be mistaken for a snake, but upon finding out that it is a rope, the false existence of the snake disappears.” In his philosophy, the universe and the false self, ego, are represented by the snake. Upon Self realization the Self, God, and the universe are seen as ONE and the same Being, Brahman.
The third principle is abandonment of desires. In the text Sri Sankara says that this means turning away completely from all sense objects. It is previous impressions laying dormant in the mind as well as the contact of the mind with external objects that creates desires. To abandon these desires the mind must become disassociated with the two main causes of desire by purification and meditation. Impressions laying dormant in the mind can be purified and removed by the use of sufi zikr or sacred mantras from Hinduism and/or Buddhism. Meditation, and the development of focusing the mind on the Divine, through developing one pointedness of the mind, remove the mind from contact with sense objects.
The fourth principle is endurance of all sorrow and pain. One sufi master from our sufi order, Cheikh Ibra Fall used to say “the harder the better.” Our beloved prophet Muhammad(peace be upon Him) has said “if you love Allah, prepare for trials.” In the Holy Quran Allah says ” I test those who try to come close to me. Do not think that you can come close to Me without being tried like those who came before you.” The sufi way is patience during test and trials, and thankfulness during times of affluence and blessing. From the viewpoint of Non Dual Advaita test and trials are the same as affluence and abundance.
The fifth principle is implicit faith in the words of the Holy scriptures and teachers(Gurus or Cheikhs). It is said in the sufi way “if you doubt you are out.” The seeker must have faith in the teacher, and the method he/she is teaching for Self Realization. The first level of faith is belief. The seeker must believe in the words of the scriptures and the teacher. The seeker must travel from the level of belief, to the level of certainty. It is at the level of certainty that the fruits of the path come to fruition. In this faith principle we find the subtle implication that the scriptures alone are NOT enough for Self Realization. One must find a Self Realized spiritual guide to help guide them on the path.
The sixth principle is concentration of the mind on God, the ONLY Reality. This principle is the end result of Realization. The mind of a Self Realized being is absorbed in God. The mind of a Self Realized being does not see any existence other than God. In the sufi way one of the main mantras/zikr is LA EE LA HA ILL ALLAH. The esoteric meaning of this zikr is God is the only Reality. Constant repetition of this zikr is one way to bring the mind to absorption in God.
The seventh principle is burning desire in the heart for God. This burning desire in the heart for God is the ONLY desire that a seeker should have. This burning desire is a flame in the heart that burns all and everything, leaving only the presence of God. This burning desire for God is a flame that has the power to burn the negative karma of a seeker, opening the way for the seeker to reach Self Realization. Once while sitting with our beloved master Cheikh Betchio in Senegal he said ” I can do anything for a disciple on the path, but if the disciple does not have the internal desire to reach God, there is nothing I can do for him.”
These are the 7 requirements that a seeker must have to journey on the path. Before Sri Sankara starts his explanation he says “only the pure at heart” should meditate on theses teachings. So in essence the 1st and most important unstated principle is having a pure heart. In the Holy Quran Allah says “he indeed succeeds who purifies it.” It, refers to the heart.

Tilopa’s Mahamudra Instruction to Naropa |
|
Homage to the Eighty Four Mahasiddhas! Homage to Mahamudra! Homage to the Vajra Dakini!Mahamudra cannot be taught. But most intelligent Naropa, Since you have undergone rigorous austerity, With forbearance in suffering and with devotion to your Guru, Blessed One, take this secret instruction to heart. Is space anywhere supported? Upon what does it rest? Gazing intently into the empty sky, vision ceases; Like the morning mist that dissolves into thin air, Pure space has neither colour nor shape The darkness of a thousand aeons is powerless Although space has been designated “empty”, The mind’s original nature is like space; The body is essentially empty like the stem of a reed, The clear light of Mahamudra cannot be revealed By harbouring rigid precepts the true samaya is impaired, Free of intellectual conceits, disavowing dogmatic principles, The fool in his ignorance, disdaining Mahamudra, KYE HO! Listen with joy! In the transcending of mind’s dualities is Supreme vision; Beyond all mental images the mind is naturally clear: KYE MA! Listen with sympathy! Cut away involvement with your homeland and friends A tree spreads its branches and puts forth leaves, A single lamp dispels the darkness of a thousand aeons; KYE HO! Listen with joy! Allow the muddy waters of mental activity to clear; The unborn omnipresent base dissolves your impulsions and delusions: The highest vision opens every gate; At first your karma is like a river falling through a gorge; If the mind is dull and you are unable to practice these instructions, When serving a karmamudra, the pure awareness Then gaining long-life and eternal youth, waxing like the moon, May this pith instruction in Mahamudra
